Objectives

Attention to environmental, economic and social aspects is an integral part of ILIP’s activities. The main milestones of this journey are presented in the timeline featured in this section.

Considering sustainability in its various dimensions and taking the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) defined by the United Nations as a reference framework, ILIP has identified a number of areas within its production and business processes to be monitored and for which improvement objectives are defined.

In line with the Group’s “Code of Ethics”, which governs, among other aspects, business conduct, compliance with employment agreements, equal opportunities and unacceptable behaviour in the workplace, these areas include the management of environmental aspects associated with production activities and products, the monitoring of energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions and material flows, as well as the development of methods for the internal recovery of production waste.

The objectives also cover occupational health and safety through the promotion of a corporate culture focused on the prevention of risks, accidents and emergencies, and the integration of related management processes into business activities.

The company also promotes dialogue throughout its value chain, engaging suppliers and customers and providing information relating to products and business activities, including information derived from Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) studies, as well as aspects related to workers’ health and safety, product quality and consumer safety.

KPI

Clear and measurable objectives (KPIs) have been defined for the Integrated Management System and are monitored to support their achievement and the continuous improvement of company performance.

With regard to environmental aspects, ILIP monitors the effects associated with its activities throughout the value chain and takes these aspects into account in decision-making processes alongside technical and economic requirements.

The company promotes the use of technologies and organizational solutions aimed at the efficient use of energy, materials and resources employed in production processes.

The objectives of the Management System include monitoring and improving performance related to energy consumption, material use, greenhouse gas emissions, waste management and logistics activities throughout the value chain.

In this context, with the commissioning of the automated warehouse with a capacity of 60,000 pallet positions, located adjacent to the production facility, ILIP has reduced the need for transfers to external warehouses. Based on company data for 2019, these transfers amounted to 8,501 movements, corresponding to a total distance of 283,380 km and approximately 300,000 kg of CO₂ emissions associated with transport activities.

The warehouse is also equipped with an oxygen-depletion fire prevention system designed to protect stored goods and the facility itself.
